Covered Patio & Turf Courtyard
A modern covered patio opening onto a turf-and-concrete courtyard with a wall fountain.
The Project
A walled courtyard beside a covered patio, with the whole space visible from inside the house. The goal was a finished floor that looked deliberate from every angle.
The Challenge
Setting a checkerboard of concrete pads and turf square to both the patio structure and the courtyard walls, with no room for error on the joints.
A1's Solution
We laid out and set large-format concrete pads on a compacted base, then cut and installed artificial turf into every joint so the pattern runs unbroken from the patio out through the courtyard and down the side yard.
The Result
An outdoor room that stays clean and green year-round and reads as an extension of the house.
